Many of you probably don’t know, but Christmas Day is the #1 day when it comes to cardiac events. That’s right. According to the Journal of Circulation more people experience heart attacks on Christmas day than any other day of the year. December 26th and January 1st are second and third respectively.

For many this really is the most wonderful time of the year. But for a lot of people it is the most stressful time of year. During this time of year there is more financial burden, schedules are bursting at the seems with events, we replace eating healthy foods with sugary treats, and we drink more alcohol. What’s more is that exercise and sleep time plummet dramatically. This all makes a recipe for disaster.

This year I really want to encourage you to slow the pace down. Your relationships are the greatest gift so invest in those over material things that will hurt that wallet. Make time to get that nerve balancing adjustment that will help you handle stress. Eat more vegetables and drink more water. Get some exercise like going for a walk with a loved one.

Let’s make this a healthy time of year.

Merry Christmas,

Dr. Jeremy
